Zonatur Acapulco is an urbanism agency in charge of ensuring adequate infrastructures and services in the tourist areas of Acapulco municipality. Street lighting is part of its remit and it has been the source of many challenges in the past years due to operational issues.
Acapulco, MEXICO
The Zonatur, an agency embodied within the Acapulco municipality, is responsible for the development and the implementation of public services projects within the touristic area of the region.
Several issues were experienced in the Acapulco bay with regards to street lighting. The municipality was encountering several difficulties to maintain lighting at optimal quality levels and to ensure efficient service and safety in certain areas.
As a result, the bay has unfortunately become one of the most dangerous areas of the country.
It was crucial to identify an appropriate lighting solution capable to address extreme weather conditions and safety issues while requiring no maintenance.
Sunna Design was designated as the partner of choice to provide appropriate lighting solutions in this area. Thanks to the installation of Sunna iSSL+ devices, the local population as well as tourists can now go to the beach areas safely and wander through the city.
The lead of this project expressed great satisfaction with our custom solution:
« The integrated motion detectors, which allow Sunna’s streetlights to turn on automatically at 200%, have been very useful in areas which were initially in total darkness or where previous streetlights were malfunctioning a lot. Sunna’s streetlights have now been working perfectly for several years. »
