The Smart City Expo World Congress is an event that takes place in Barcelona and whose objective is to promote and raise awareness on the innovations of urban territories around the world. The meeting aims to create a space to debate and analyze the future of cities and their inhabitants. This is the leading international event on smart cities aimed at becoming a platform for urban innovation worldwide.
Since 2011, the Smart Cities Conference has been driving a vision: cities are centers of innovation and knowledge, engines of economic growth, prosperity and social well-being. These are the reasons why the change in cities has become a key element in building a sustainable future.
For this new edition, Smart City Barcelona is using a unifying theme “city made of dreams”. Let’s have a dream, a dream in an intelligent urban revolution. Because we still need green and liveable cities that reflect a strong sense of responsibility towards future generations. We would like to live in urban territories in which public transport coexists with new soft mobility options. Cities that address both security and privacy concerns of citizens. Cities that are open to the ideas of all residents where collective intelligence can build a better future; urban and rural territories that look beyond and anticipate planned and unexpected changes.
However, for things to work, we need citizens who dream of a better future, as well as the public and private sectors, civil society and various organizations, and the academic community. We are all involved.

Also, other events about smart mobility or circular economy contribute to raising awareness for better living, dreaming to transform seemingly impossible futures into real prosperous cities.
Smart City Expo 2019 takes place from 19 to 21 November at “Fira de Barcelona,” one of the largest and most famous exhibition centers in Europe. Every year, the largest congresses, events, and meetings are held there, such as the Mobile World Congress, IBTM World Barcelona 2018 and many other events.
The exhibitors come from different sectors that largely correspond to the composition of today’s cities: Governmental and inter-governmental organizations, Institutions, Universities, international companies, SMEs, start-ups. And YOU!
