The Democratic Republic of Congo is undergoing a major transformation. The country is multiplying infrastructure projects to accelerate its development, and this project is no exception. In 2024, Congo Energy, Sunna Design’s local partner, led the installation of over twenty solar streetlights in the parking lot of Silikin Village’s campus in Kinshasa.
Kinshasa – DRC
Initiated by the TEXAF group, Silikin Village is a space designed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Located in Ngaliema, a strategic district of Kinshasa, this three-hectare site benefits from a prime location close to the French Embassy and the business district.
Officially inaugurated on October 10, 2024, in the presence of President Félix Tshisekedi, Silikin Village marks a major milestone in the region’s technological and economic development. More than just a workspace, it’s a dynamic ecosystem where startups and digital companies find the ideal environment to grow. Its campus and coworking space foster collaboration and contribute to the country’s digital transformation.
Twenty-two iSSL Maxi 4 solar streetlights have been installed in the Phase 3 parking areas, covering the campus and coworking spaces. This new extension, offering 125 parking spaces, required reliable, high-performance lighting to ensure user safety.
The choice of the iSSL Maxi 4 was deliberate. This model features a dual LED module for optimal light coverage, which is ideally suited for parking areas. It’s also equipped with large solar panels and a high-capacity battery. This setup ensures maximum energy production and extended
autonomy. Each unit can be installed in under ten minutes, allowing for a simple and fast deployment. In addition to quick installation, these streetlights feature anti-blackout technology, ensuring continuous visibility and enhanced safety in all conditions. Their reliability makes them an ideal solution for environments requiring consistent lighting.
Innovation goes even further with compatibility with SunnAPP, Sunna Design’s monitoring application. This tool enables real-time performance tracking, allows on-site management of lighting profiles at the base of the pole, and simplifies maintenance with access to the product’s performance history.
By integrating smart, connected solar lighting solutions, Silikin Village continues its commitment to innovation by adopting advanced technologies tailored to modern urban needs. Its choice to implement efficient and autonomous solutions reflects a clear ambition to offer its users a modern, forward-thinking environment.
Already deployed elsewhere in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including along roads in Lubumbashi, the iSSL Maxi 4 demonstrates its efficiency and relevance in supporting sustainable infrastructure development. This project illustrates the shared commitment of Sunna Design and Congo Energy to providing lighting solutions that address the country’s energy and environmental challenges.
