Following the devastating fire in July 2022 that destroyed over 80% of the Camping Les Flots Bleus, the management team was forced to radically rethink the site’s infrastructure. Faced with initial doubts about the reliability of solar lighting, the campsite’s teams conducted a rigorous evaluation of options, revealing Sunna Design’s autonomous lighting systems. Sunna Design’s UP range emerged as the clear choice, offering undeniable ecological benefits and significant economic returns. The promise of energy independence was a turning point, convincing the director and his team of the long-term viability of this technology.
Eager to reopen the campsite by April 2023 to welcome back campers, the main challenge was to rebuild in record time, a feat only made possible by installing solar lighting. They opted for around fifty units of the UP 2 model, which is easily and quickly installed across the site. This system offers remarkable flexibility: the light intensity can be adjusted according to the areas, reducing lighting in tent zones at night while maintaining consistent brightness in common areas. This adaptation significantly enhances the camping experience, preserving the warm and friendly atmosphere of the campsite.
Campers very well received the new installations. Visitors particularly appreciate how the lighting complements the natural environment without disrupting it, offering both safety and comfort. In a video interview, Franck Couderc shares his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting how well both staff and campers have received it. The discreet aesthetic and functionality of the solar streetlights have enhanced the success of this transformation, combining efficiency and aesthetic appeal.
Switching to solar lighting at Les Flots Bleus Campsite represents more than just a technical improvement; it is a step towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly management. This project perfectly illustrates how innovation and ecology can create a welcoming, nature-respecting space, inspiring other businesses and regions to consider similar solutions.
